Project ORRCA was a project started after the BP Oil spill in 2010 with a goal of creating a robot to clean up water pollution. After 7 years, 4 prototypes, and a lot of duct tape we're proud to say that it's finally been done. The ORRCA USV is a fully functioning prototype capable of removing plastics, sediments, heavy metals, chemicals, and even oil from the water. It was designed for developing countries as an inexpensive system to clean the water bodies.https://www.facebook.com/donate/794593877381223/
I am Aditya Mehrotra, a 17 year old high school student from East Brunswick, NJ. From as far back as I can remember, I was one to build whatever it was that I wanted. From bikes to toys, from work tables to even small tools, I had the DIY mantra ingrained in myself since birth. I spend hours and hours in my basement lab building things. My specialty, however, is robotics. Ever since my dad bought me a Lego Mindstorms kit when I was 6 years old - my solution to every problem has been a robot. Passion has helped shape who I am today and has taught me much about engineering and computer science. I am a person that believes in collaboration. It is together that we create the greatest products of human intelligence. "When the world is telling you no, you have to be the one to say yes."
